“Building the Dream”

Updated: Jun 20, 2018

The 2018 Haiti joint medical mission was held at Clinic Joseph Desrivieres in Delma 9. With the inspiration of the Salesian Monsignor, and the directions of I.D.H., the 25-year-old Dr. Emmanuel Samedy, pioneered the revitalization of this struggling medical clinic located in the heart of the mass population of Port-au-Prince. Dr. Samedy solicited 20 local Haitian Doctors and 20 nurses who had the clinic cleaned and restored. When there is a better understanding of Haiti’s healthcare system by thorough assessments we are able be adequately help. Through those assessment it was determined that dental, vision and Ob-Gyn were the top three most requested services. Haiti, with the worst health care record in the Western Hemisphere, has the infant mortality rate of 48.2 deaths for every 1,000 live births. The maternal mortality rate is 359 deaths for every 1,000 live births. During our time in Haiti, we serviced 878 patients and was forced to turn away dozens of patients due to limited time and staffing. Our staff believes their calling is to go beyond the local clinic and reach those living in remote areas in Haiti. Our passion is to reach the yet untouched with care and assistance of medical services.
